Wholly Formed with Nyalee Miller
Excerpt from page 141 of Our Story Magazine: Winter 2021-2022.
Hello there! My name is Nyalee Miller. I am a 22-year-old wife of four years currently living in Phoenix, Arizona. I am the creator and designer behind everything Wholly Formed. When I’m not designing jewelry and working on my shop, you can find me happily homemaking, trying new recipes, hiking with my husband, or curled up on the couch with my newest read and my favorite homemade latte.
The idea for my shop, Wholly Formed, was given to me by God as a direct answer to my prayers. At the time, I was in a season that left me desiring more out of my life. I hadn’t taken the college route and instead married my high school sweetheart when I was just 18 years old. My peers seemed to know what they were doing. They had a vision of what they wanted to accomplish and what degrees and certificates were in their near future. I wanted so badly to be sure of what I should be doing, but I knew I didn’t want to follow the traditional four-year path.
I started to feel useless and purposeless. So, I reached out to God and started praying for a way to honor Him while using the talents He had given me. I distinctly remember crying out to Him and telling Him that I didn’t know what to do with my life. That’s when I heard a still small voice say to me—“Your life has been wholly formed by my hands. Just trust me.” At first, I was a little confused. I asked myself—“What does God mean by wholly formed?” So, I turned to His Word and began searching for anything related to being wholly formed. That’s when I found the following verse in my Bible:
"And yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand" (Isaiah 64:8, NLT).
And that’s when I knew. I knew I wanted to tell other women that their lives are also formed by God's hand. He is shaping us and forming us every day to be more like Jesus. He, through His Son, has made us whole. We are the clay in the potter’s hands! I shouldn’t worry about my life because the Lord’s hand is upon it, and he has formed me and knows me.
We are wholly formed!
Because of this verse, I knew immediately that I needed to express what God had told me by working with clay. I began to research different types of clay and how to work with them. I didn’t know what kind of items I should create. I stumbled upon clay jewelry and knew that the Holy Spirit had led me there. I have always been creative at heart, and I knew that I would enjoy creating polymer clay-based jewelry and accessories. God has had his hand in my shop and has helped me figure out how to navigate small business life while pointing to His name. This shop is evolving into something that I truly treasure, and I can’t wait to see how God uses it to reach women. As women wear these pieces, I hope that they are reminded that they are wholly formed by God’s hands.
