It's an honor to introduce you to Lauren te Velde and to share her story about Paper Farm Press.

Lauren creates handmade letterpress cards, stationery, and art prints on a California homestead. From her farm to your home, she delivers faith-based pieces that encourage, inspire, and help you give the gift of handwritten notes in a busy, modern world.

It was a love of paper, print, and design, mixed in with her farm roots and faith that created what is now known as Paper Farm Press.

Lauren credits her unique and timeless style to her two antique letterpress machines named Willa and Heidi. The craft of letterpress adds a level of artisanship you can physically see and feel with its one-of-a-kind impression resulting in crisp, timeless prints. From her seasonal sets to meaningful messages, this attention to detail carries into every aspect of her business.

Much like quarterly farming seasons, Paper Farm Press releases “in season” stationery sets. Lauren and her husband are both third-generation farmers, with both sets of grandparents immigrating from the Netherlands. The physical print shop is located in Kingsburg, California, nestled in the middle of her farm, which Lauren is inspired by every day. In fact, over 2/3rds of the nation’s fruit is grown in Central California!

Faith is at the core of everything the farm dos, which is why you’ll see words of Scripture on many of her pieces. Lauren also loves a good pun, and the curated cards and prints in each collection vary from fun and catchy sayings for birthdays and friendship, to words of gratitude, encouragement, and inspiration. All the cards were created to help others spread the gift of kindness through a thoughtful, handwritten note. Paper Farm Press truly encompasses their message: letterpress stationery straight from the farm. Sown in faith, gathered in joy, shared in love…to cultivate community.

The art of letterpress

The craft of letterpress adds a level of artisanship you can feel. And it’s that deep, yet simple attention to detail that Paper Farm Press brings to every aspect of the business. Letterpress is a unique, century-old relief printing art that presses a photopolymer plate into paper to create a one-of-a-kind impression. The result is a crisp, timeless print.

Meet Willa! She is Lauren’s Chandler and Price letterpress machine. She’s great for all jobs, but especially handmade, deckled paper. She can handle the texture and irregular edges like a pro! She’s about 80 years old, and every card is hand-fed through the press.
